Round 1 out of 16 races for the iRacing 2016 NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series was last night 2/23/2016 at Daytona. Justin was on the Pole for the start of 100 laps around the superspeedway. He led the first 10 laps and stayed within the top 10 throughout the majority of the race until lap 81. The first caution flew on lap 52. Justin came in for tires and fuel. Lap 81 saw the cars at the front of the field including Justin pit for tires and fuel during green flag pit stops. Cycling back around teammate Cody Byus and Justin were leading the pack that would gain control of the race once the other cars went in for fuel. However, none of those cars came in gambling on fuel and Justin’s pack was left running in the back when the last caution of the race came out causing a GWC to the end. On the restart, there was a pile up with Justin finishing in p. 23. Definitely not a finish that showed how strong of a run he had during most of the race. You can watch the race on YouTube here. The NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series Round 13 was held at Phoenix International Raceway on 8/25. Justin qualified p. 12 for the 156 lap event. It was a caution filled race that did not work well with Justin’s race strategy. He was able to keep the Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors #36 car in the top 15 for the majority of the race. After a green flag pit stop, the 5th caution flag of the race flew on lap 106 putting over 15 cars including Justin in the back of the field in p. 23. He was able to work his way forward into the top 15. There would be 4 more cautions in the last 30 laps of the race. Justin finished p. 15. Round 12 of the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series on 8/11/2015 was 50 laps around the 2.45 mile road course at Watkins Glen International. Justin qualified p. 10 and kept the Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car in the top 10 the entire race. The road courses on iRacing take complete concentration for the entire race due to the fact there are no cautions. The only break the drivers get is the one green flag pit stop for 4 tires and fuel half way through the race. It’s 50 laps of left and right turns with no errors to keep your position. iRacing Blog – 7/28/15 NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Round 11 of the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series was 7/28/2015 for 100 laps around Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Justin was unable to set a qualifying time for the race due to internet issues at his apartment. He was forced to start p. 39. Starting in the rear, Justin steadily moved up through the field into the top 15 dodging several wrecks in the process. However, with 20 laps to go the luck ran out and Justin was again in the wrong place at the wrong time and was clipped sending the Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors in the inside wall. After a very lengthy pit stop to fix the extensive damage, Justin was able to get back out on the track to finish the race in p. 31. Watch a replay of the race here.
NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series Kentucky Speedway
Such an up and down season so far in the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series. Coming back from the break, Round 10 was 167 laps around Kentucky Speedway. The race on 7/14/2015 saw Justin qualify p. 6 and keep the Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car in the top 10 for the entire race. With the one and only caution happening early on lap 52, the race came down to fuel mileage. After a green flag pit stop on lap 109, Justin stretched the fuel the 58 laps to the end to cross the finish line in p. 9. See the race here.
On June 16, Round 9 of the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series went 125 laps around the 2 mile track at Michigan International Speedway. Justin would start the race in p. 5 and keep the #36 Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car in the top 5 for over 100 laps. After the second caution on lap 52 there was some hard 3-wide racing on the restart with Justin able to maintain a top 5 position. At lap 80 Justin took control of the 2nd spot behind leader and teammate Kenny Humpe. Drivers were able to make green flag pit stops at lap 89. Two late cautions, however, set the stage for an unfortunate incident with a 3-wide battle after starting p. 2 on the restart on lap 105 that ended Justin’s night. The p. 38 result doesn’t show the dominant run Justin had at Michigan. The TEAM again proved their hard work onthe setup of the car is keeping their drivers running up front each race and with Kenny Humpe taking another win in the series. Round 8 of the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series showed once again the strong performance of all The TEAM drivers. Round 8 at Dover International Speedway on June 2nd saw Justin starting on the pole for the second time during this series. Justin kept the #36 Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car in the top 3 for the entire 200 laps. There would be 6 cautions in all with 2 of them happening in the last 15 laps of the race. On May 19, the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series headed to Charlotte Motor Speedway for Round 7 of the Series. Justin in the #36 Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car qualified in p. 11 and in the first couple laps of the race quickly moved up to p. 6. The first half of the race went green except for one caution on lap 4. Justin ran in the top 5 cycling through two green flag pit stops. The second half of the race had three cautions within 29 laps. At the restart on lap 148, the inside line had a slow start and the drivers behind Justin pushed forward creating a huge wreck catching Justin and ending his night. The race did not go as planned at Pocono during Round 6 of the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series on Tuesday, 5/5. Justin in the #36 Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car started the 100-lap race in p. 6. While running in the 7 th spot at lap 20, the #32 had merged back onto the track from a pit stop when he went around. Justin was able to avoid the spinning car and continue. On the restart on lap 26, Justin was battling side by side with #33 coming into Turn 2 whenthe two cars touched sending Justin spinning but he was able to save it and continue with left front damage. The caution would come out again on lap 50 for a single car spin. At lap 55 after the restart, two cars collided sending everyone scrambling. As Justin was trying to make it through, his car was hit several times from cars spinning out of control. There was too much damage to the #36 for Justin to be able to continue. Round 5 of the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series went 200 laps at Richmond International Raceway on Tuesday, 4/21. Justin qualified the #36 Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car in p. 6 for the start of the race. The first half of the race was fairly calm with the first caution coming out on lap 57 while Justin was running in p. 4. The second caution occurred at lap 121. The second half of the race was filled with 5 more caution flags leaving Justin stuck on the outside line for some of the restarts. The race would end under caution with Justin finishing in p. 7. See a replay of the race here. The next race will be May 5 at Pocono.
