Racing Thru the Entire Field for a Semi-Pro Win – 9/1/12

Went up to Lake Erie Speedway for their last race of the season this Labor Day Weekend. Thirty Legend cars started the day. Justin started 9th in the third heat and finished third. This put the #99 starting 9th for the Feature race. The field just could not get a good start and there were three cautions within the first six laps of the race. Contact with the #83 sent Justin to the back of the field on lap 6. Justin had a very strong car and did an amazing run through the field. The #99 crossed the finish line side by side with #98 with a 4th place overall finish and another 1st place in the Semi-Pro division. Be sure to watch the video of the race at the Videos Page.

SemiPro Win at Lake Erie Speedway – August 25, 2012

We stayed in PA this weekend and went up to Lake Erie Speedway. Made a lot of adjustments to the car during practice and were able to get it dialed in by feature time. Justin won his fifth heat race of the season. After the invert, the #99 started p. 10 for the Feature race. The race went caution free for the first 20 laps. Justin was up to p. 4 when the first caution came out. There would be two cautions in the last 5 laps. Justin finished fourth overall with his fourth Semi-Pro win of the season at Lake Erie Speedway. Thank you to DSR and Keven Wood for help with the car.

Justin Wins Semi-Pro Division After Rain Delay – August 11, 2012

Lake Erie Speedway — It was a long night at Lake Erie Speedway with a 3 hour rain delay, but it was worth the wait. Justin started in the fifth position for the heat race and finished a strong 2nd place. This put him in p7 for the start of the feature race. After a  caution involving 4 cars on Lap 1, the #99 restarted in p4. He quickly moved up to 2nd place with Matt Pappa running first. A caution on lap 12, though, brought the field back together. Justin had to give up the second position for a few laps to make sure he kept ahead of another Semi-Pro driver running fourth. The last five laps of the race saw Justin and Debrakeleer battling hard side by side for the second spot. They came across the line side by side with Justin taking 3rd overall and 1st in the Semi-Pro division.

Justin’s second 1st Place finish in Semi-Pro Division at Lake Erie Speedway July 28, 2012

We traveled north on Saturday, July 28, to Lake Erie Speedway. Dan Snyder Racing gave Justin a great handling car for the night. Justin started 2nd in the first Heat and quickly took the lead to win his 4th heat of the season at Lake Erie. The #99 lined up in the 4th starting position for the Feature race. After an early caution on lap 1, Justin lined up third for the re-start. Justin ran 3rd right on the bumper of #39 for most of the race until lap 19 when he was finally able to get around him for the 2nd spot. Justin was in the process of catching the leader in the midst of several lap cars when there was a caution with two cars in the wall on the last lap which froze the field.  Justin finished 2nd overall and 1st in the Semi-Pro division. Visit to read their write-up of the Legend Car feature race from Saturday. Justin heads down south for Round 7 of the Jack-in-the-Box Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway for practice on Monday and racing on Tuesday, July 31.

Brake issues cause problems for the #99 at Lake Erie Speedway July 14, 2012

On Saturday, July 14, the rain stayed away at Lake Erie Speedway but, unfortunately, so did the handling of the #99 car. We struggled through practice with a leaking left rear tire. Justin was able to come up through to finish 2nd in the Heat race. Due to the invert, he started the feature in the 8th position. Justin did some hard racing during the feature, but did not have the best handling car to get up to the front. Finished in the 8th position and 4th in the Semi-Pro division.

Justin wins Semi-Pro Division at Lake Erie Speedway July 7, 2012

Coming off his first Semi-Pro win at Caraway on the 4th of July, Justin headed up to Lake Erie Speedway on Saturday, July 7. It was another hot day. The car was okay during practice but not as fast. Still, Justin was able to win his heat race. After the track invert, the #99 started the Feature race in 10th position.

It was some hard, close racing during the Feature. After several cautions, Justin had raced his way up to finish the race in the 4th position and 1st out of the Semi-Pro drivers.

Two division wins in a row. Hoping to keep the wins coming. Justin will be back at Lake Erie Speedway next Saturday, July 14.

The #99 is wrecked running strong at Lake Erie Speedway June 30, 2012

Lake Erie Speedway — After a disappointing Round 3 down in Charlotte, we headed up to Lake Erie Speedway on Saturday, 6/30 for the Driver/Sponsor Appreciation Night. Justin felt very good about the car after the one and only practice run. Justin started 2nd in the 3rd heat and quickly took the lead coming out of turn 2 winning his second Heat Race at Lake Erie Speedway.

Before the feature races started, the Speedway lined up all the drivers and their cars for the autograph session. This was a great experience being able to talk with the fans while letting them see the Legend car. The kids had the best time sitting inside the car.

The Legend cars were the last feature race of the night. The #99 car started 6th after the invert. Justin had a strong start and quickly the #39, #62 and #99 were out front with a good lead on the rest of the field. After the second caution flag of the race, Justin was running third and a car deliberately pulled down in front of him entering turn 1. Justin had nowhere to go and they hit causing both cars to spin and a third car then hit into both of them ending Justin’s night. It is an extreme challenge for our #99 team when you do not have the finishes to show for these past races. We will keep racing as much as we can and I am confident Justin will be in victory lane soon.

The #99 car loses the muffler during practice June 16, 2012 – Lake Erie – 2nd Semi-Pro

After having rain postpone our racing in Round 1 of the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway last Tuesday, we traveled up to Lake Erie Speedway on Saturday, June 16. No rain threatened this race.

We did, however, have the tab on our muffler break which caused the muffler to fall off the car during the last practice run. We very much appreciate Matt Pappa’s family for letting us borrow a muffler and for helping us put it on the car in time for the Heat Race.

Justin started on the pole in the third group of the Heat races and was able to race to his first Heat Race win at Lake Erie Speedway.

After the invert, Justin started 11th out of 26 cars for the Feature race. It was some very close, fast racing. After the last caution with 6 laps remaining in the race, Justin and the #97 came across the finish line side by side racing for p. 6 and 7; with Justin edging past him for the 6th place finish; finishing 2nd in Semi-Pro Division.

We will be heading back down to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Round 1 make-up race and for Round 2 of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout. Remember to follow Justin on Twitter JustinBolton99 and using #summershootout.

The #99 running strong and then blows the engine June 2, 2012

Traveled up to Lake Erie Speedway on Saturday, June 2, for the Legend Car National Qualifier Event. There were 33 cars in attendance; 18 Semi-Pro/Young Lions and 15 Pro/Masters.

The day started out great with two good practice runs. The Semi-Pro/Young Lions were split into two heat races. Justin started last out of 9 cars in the first Heat Race and was able to charge up through to finish 2nd.

The Feature Race would have 18 cars racing for 30 laps. Justin started in the 3rd position. The beginning of the race saw several cautions. Justin spun on lap 14 but was able to keep the car from backing into the wall. Unfortunately, he had to go to the rear of the field.
With half of the laps finished, Justin had a lot of work to do to get back to the front. By lap 24, Justin had made it to position 5 when a caution came out. He was in a perfect position to get back up front to being one of the top three cars where he had started the race.
It just was not meant to happen. On the re-start, crossing the Start/Finish line, there was a huge plume of white smoke and flames from the #99. Justin’s engine had blown. With only 6 laps left in the race, Justin’s night ended. He was able to get the car stopped on the apron and get himself out of the car. It was a huge disappointment after such a strong run in the Heat race and a great run up through the field during the Feature.

Justin was credited with 13th place at the end of the night.

We will be headed down to Charlotte, NC on Monday and Tuesday, June 11 and 12, for the Summer Shootout. This is a 10-week long event running through August at the 1/4 mile oval track inside Charlotte Motor Speedway. There are currently 230 cars registered so far. Should be an awesome experience.

Justin’s first time at LES with a 3rd place Semi-Pro Division finish May 26, 2012

Great weekend of racing over the Memorial Day holiday. Traveled to Lake Erie Speedway in PA for their opening night. There were a total of 36 Legend cars and over 5800 people in attendance to watch the feature races. The track split the Legend cars into two divisions: Semi-Pro / Young Lions and Pro / Masters. There were 20 cars in the Semi-Pro / Young Lions division. Justin started the feature race in the 9th position. By the 4th lap of the feature race, Justin had moved up to 5th. After lap 5, the top 5 cars pulled away from the rest of the field. The race stayed green and Justin maintained the 5th position for the remainder of the race; finishing 3rd in the Semi-Pro Division.

On Sunday, we traveled over to Mountain Speedway in Drums, PA. There were 17 Legend cars. With this being Justin’s first time at the track, he had to start last for the heat race and for the feature race. This was an extremely rough short track and we were glad to leave there with a car in one piece. After 20 laps, Justin was able to make it up through to the 10th position; finishing 4th in the Semi-Pro Division.

It was great to be able to get back to the tracks after a couple weeks off. A huge thank you goes out to Dan Snyder for making the trip from NC to help us over the weekend.
