After missing the last two races in the NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series, Justin was back in the #36 Alliance Garage Doors /CHI Overhead Doors car for Round 8 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Starting p. 9, Justin would run in the top 5 for a majority of the 200 lap race. The first part of the race would see 82 laps of green flag racing. At lap 83 the first caution waved bringing everyone down pit road for 4 tires and fuel. Justin would continue a strong pace in the second half running p. 2 behind the leader, teammate Kenny Humpe. There were 7 total cautions with the race ending under yellow and Justin finishing p. 2 for his highest finishing spot this season. Round 5 of the NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series was at Texas Motor Speedway for 167 laps. Justin put the #36 Alliance Garage Doors / CHI Overhead Doors car on the pole for the start of the race. After falling back to p. 3 at lap 6, Justin reeled in the leader to take over the top spot on lap 30. Leading the pack on lap 32, Justin came in for service during the first set of green flag pit stops. Unfortunately, the first caution came out which put Justin back in the field for the restart. The same situation occurred during the second set of green flag pit stops placing Justin further back in the pack. Coming into the pits for the third round of green flag pit stops at half way, Justin was hit from behind placing him a lap down on the restart for the last part of the race. With no more cautions there was no way to recover. Finished p. 34. Such a strong car, but the timing of the cautions made it impossible to get back to the front. Round 2 of the iRacing 2016 NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series was Tuesday, 3/1/2016, at Atlanta Motor Speedway. They would race 167 laps. Justin qualified p. 7, led 25 laps, and finished in the top 10. There were 5 total cautions, 3 in the first half and 2 yellows at the beginning of the second half of the race. The caution at half way occurred during green flag pit stops and caught Justin back in p. 23. He stayed out after the last caution to take the lead and held onto the lead for 6 laps before the tires started to fall off. Tire fall off was huge with a good 2 seconds difference. Justin used some more strategy and came in early for fresh tires on the last green flag pit stop to gain some ground and finished the race p. 9. You can watch a replay of the race on YouTube here. Next week iRacing will put out a new build on the cars adding the new downforce. The next race will be 3/15/2016 at Phoenix International Raceway.
Round 1 out of 16 races for the iRacing 2016 NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series was last night 2/23/2016 at Daytona. Justin was on the Pole for the start of 100 laps around the superspeedway. He led the first 10 laps and stayed within the top 10 throughout the majority of the race until lap 81. The first caution flew on lap 52. Justin came in for tires and fuel. Lap 81 saw the cars at the front of the field including Justin pit for tires and fuel during green flag pit stops. Cycling back around teammate Cody Byus and Justin were leading the pack that would gain control of the race once the other cars went in for fuel. However, none of those cars came in gambling on fuel and Justin’s pack was left running in the back when the last caution of the race came out causing a GWC to the end. On the restart, there was a pile up with Justin finishing in p. 23. Definitely not a finish that showed how strong of a run he had during most of the race. You can watch the race on YouTube here. The next race will be at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Tuesday, March 1, 2016.
