On June 16, Round 9 of the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series went 125 laps around the 2 mile track at Michigan International Speedway. Justin would start the race in p. 5 and keep the #36 Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car in the top 5 for over 100 laps. After the second caution on lap 52 there was some hard 3-wide racing on the restart with Justin able to maintain a top 5 position. At lap 80 Justin took control of the 2nd spot behind leader and teammate Kenny Humpe. Drivers were able to make green flag pit stops at lap 89. Two late cautions, however, set the stage for an unfortunate incident with a 3-wide battle after starting p. 2 on the restart on lap 105 that ended Justin’s night. The p. 38 result doesn’t show the dominant run Justin had at Michigan. The TEAM again proved their hard work onthe setup of the car is keeping their drivers running up front each race and with Kenny Humpe taking another win in the series. Round 8 of the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series showed once again the strong performance of all The TEAM drivers. Round 8 at Dover International Speedway on June 2nd saw Justin starting on the pole for the second time during this series. Justin kept the #36 Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car in the top 3 for the entire 200 laps. There would be 6 cautions in all with 2 of them happening in the last 15 laps of the race. On May 19, the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series headed to Charlotte Motor Speedway for Round 7 of the Series. Justin in the #36 Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car qualified in p. 11 and in the first couple laps of the race quickly moved up to p. 6. The first half of the race went green except for one caution on lap 4. Justin ran in the top 5 cycling through two green flag pit stops. The second half of the race had three cautions within 29 laps. At the restart on lap 148, the inside line had a slow start and the drivers behind Justin pushed forward creating a huge wreck catching Justin and ending his night. The race did not go as planned at Pocono during Round 6 of the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series on Tuesday, 5/5. Justin in the #36 Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car started the 100-lap race in p. 6. While running in the 7 th spot at lap 20, the #32 had merged back onto the track from a pit stop when he went around. Justin was able to avoid the spinning car and continue. On the restart on lap 26, Justin was battling side by side with #33 coming into Turn 2 whenthe two cars touched sending Justin spinning but he was able to save it and continue with left front damage. The caution would come out again on lap 50 for a single car spin. At lap 55 after the restart, two cars collided sending everyone scrambling. As Justin was trying to make it through, his car was hit several times from cars spinning out of control. There was too much damage to the #36 for Justin to be able to continue. Round 5 of the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series went 200 laps at Richmond International Raceway on Tuesday, 4/21. Justin qualified the #36 Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car in p. 6 for the start of the race. The first half of the race was fairly calm with the first caution coming out on lap 57 while Justin was running in p. 4. The second caution occurred at lap 121. The second half of the race was filled with 5 more caution flags leaving Justin stuck on the outside line for some of the restarts. The race would end under caution with Justin finishing in p. 7. See a replay of the race here. The next race will be May 5 at Pocono.
Justin earned his first Pole of the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series on Tuesday night, 4/7, at Texas Motor Speedway. The race went green for the most part with only one caution late in the race at lap 139. On lap 35, Justin surrendered the lead to teammate Chad Laughton and stayed up front running in the top 5 for the entire race. The third race of the iRacing NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series at Auto Club Speedway was on Tuesday, 3/24. This was the first race for the cars with the new build of less downforce and less horsepower to coincide with the changes NASCAR made to the Cup cars. Justin and Cody Byus moved from Cody Byus Racing to join The Team.
The race would be 125 laps around the 2 mile superspeedway. Justin qualified p. 3. The Alliance / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car was fast and Justin was able to keep it up front for the entire 125 laps.
The first caution came early on lap 9 with a second caution at lap 22. Each time Justin pitted for 4 tires and fuel. On the restart at Lap 26 there was a big wreck catching 16 cars mid pack. After this, the drivers were able to get a long green flag run. Justin led a lap prior to his green flag pit stop for 4 tires and fuel. The last caution came on lap 96 saving the race from ending with fuel strategy. It was green to the checkered flag with Justin crossing the line in p. 3 on his birthday and The Team sweeping positions 1-3 with 2 others teammates in the top 7. After coming off a win last week in the NiS race at Las Vegas, Lady Luck was not with the #36 Alliance / CHI Overhead Doors car last night at Las Vegas for Round 2 of the iRacing NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series.
The race would be 167 laps. Qualifying p. 5, Justin had a very strong car and ran p. 3 for the majority of the first half of the race. First caution came out on Lap 40. After a flawless pit stop for 4 tires and fuel, Justin came out of the pits p. 4 and quickly took over the third spot after the restart.
At about lap 80 with Justin still running p. 3, green flag pit stops started cycling through. On lap 85 while Justin was in the pits, the second caution came out. Instead of coming out p. 3, this caution caused him to be a lap down starting in p. 25.
The second half of the race saw four more yellows with the #36 getting caught up and receiving damage in a couple of them. There would be a 1 lap shootout to the finish. The caution came out immediately on the restart and the race ended under yellow with Justin in p. 21.
The Cody Byus Racing team showed again this week, their setups are strong. Track position is a huge advantage at Las Vegas. Just bad luck being caught in the pits when a caution happens.
Justin and members of the CBR team will be hard at work these next two weeks perfecting the setup after the new build comes out today to be ready for the next race at Auto Club Speedway on 3/24.
The first race of the iRacing NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series was last Tuesday, 2/24, for 100 laps at Daytona. Justin is part of the team Cody Byus Racing (CBR). After qualifying, the entire field of 43 cars was less than 1/10 of a second off each other’s times for the start of the race. Justin started in the back of the field but by lap 11 had worked his way to the front. Justin and teammate Cody Byus were running in the top 5 by lap 15. They remained at the front of the field until lap 67. A car was turned from the outside line and crossed over in front of Justin in the inside line. Justin’s #36 car sustained heavy front-end damage; and even though Justin was able to continue, the car was not competitive. There were five cautions throughout the race. Justin finished p. 16.
