The final round of the 2016 NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series was at Homestead Miami Speedway for 167 laps. Justin was running the pink #36 Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car for Breast Cancer Awareness month. He qualified p. 4 and quickly moved up to p. 2 but sustained significant damage early on lap 12. He battled back to finish p. 17. After missing 4 of 16 races, Justin still holds onto the NPAS license for next season by finishing in the top 30. Congratulations to teammates Dylan Duval and Kenny Humpe on top 10 finishes and Cody Byus on a p. 11 finish for this season.
The NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series was at Michigan for Round 13. Justin qualified p. 4 for this 125-lap event and finished strong with a Top 5. After the second caution on lap 20, Justin took over the lead. This would be the longest green flag run of the race. They would run green for about 60 laps. After coming in for 4 tires and fuel during the green-flag pit stop, Justin drove back up into the Top 10 when a caution flew at lap 81. There were 6 other cautions before the end of the race. This created a bunch of short-lap runs for the last 45 laps. Too many yellows with not enough racing to be able to get up front to battle for the lead and had to settle for a Top 5 finish in p 4. Round 12 of the NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series had the drivers turning left and right for 50 laps at the Watkins Glen International Road Course. Justin started p. 14 and used a one-stop strategy to come away with a solid Top 10 finish. You can view the race here.
Round 11 of the NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series was 100 laps at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Justin lined up p. 18 for the start of the race. He steadily made his way into the Top 10 by lap 35. There were 4 cautions in the first half of the race. The second half saw Justin continue to battle for position in the Top 10. After three more cautions in this second half, Justin had positioned himself in the Top 5. A late race caution on lap 92 would mean this last run would end the race. Re-starting in position 4 Justin was able to hold on to the position when the caution came out 2 laps later ending the race. Congratulations to teammate Dylan Duval on the win. Thank you to Mobil 1 for putting on the Mobil 1 Virtual Showdown with Tony Stewart event. Finished 6th in the heat race running the Mobil 1 #10 Danica Patrick car. After a random draw started dead last for the feature. Lagged behind in order to get the Mobil 1 #10 Chevy some TV time by mixing in with the leaders for the last laps of the race. Justin will be donating the $100 received from Mobil 1 to The Tony Stewart Foundation.
Kentucky Speedway was the track for Round 10 of the NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series. Justin in the #36 C.H.I Overhead Doors / Alliance Garage Doors car started p. 8 for the 167 lap race. Moved into the top 5 and took over the lead on lap 75. Continued to run in the top 5 until the first caution on lap 102. Several drivers stayed out putting Justin coming out of pit road with 4 fresh tires starting back in p. 14. There would be four more cautions with the race ending under yellow. A gamble of short pitting to have tires to finish the race didn’t pay off and Justin was trapped in the back with a caution coming out on lap 150. Justin finished p. 19. Tonight was Round 9 and the start of the second half of the 2016 NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series. 167 laps at Chicagoland. Justin qualified the Alliance Garage Doors / C.H.I. Overhead Doors car in p. 11 to start the race. There would be only one caution at lap 34 but it occurred while Justin was on pit road dropping him from p. 10 to p. 24. Starting p. 9, Justin would run in the top 5 for a majority of the 200 lap race. The first part of the race would see 82 laps of green flag racing. At lap 83 the first caution waved bringing everyone down pit road for 4 tires and fuel. Justin would continue a strong pace in the second half running p. 2 behind the leader, teammate Kenny Humpe. There were 7 total cautions with the race ending under yellow and Justin finishing p. 2 for his highest finishing spot this season. Round 5 of the NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series was at Texas Motor Speedway for 167 laps. Justin put the #36 Alliance Garage Doors / CHI Overhead Doors car on the pole for the start of the race. After falling back to p. 3 at lap 6, Justin reeled in the leader to take over the top spot on lap 30. Leading the pack on lap 32, Justin came in for service during the first set of green flag pit stops. Unfortunately, the first caution came out which put Justin back in the field for the restart. The same situation occurred during the second set of green flag pit stops placing Justin further back in the pack. Coming into the pits for the third round of green flag pit stops at half way, Justin was hit from behind placing him a lap down on the restart for the last part of the race. With no more cautions there was no way to recover. Finished p. 34. Such a strong car, but the timing of the cautions made it impossible to get back to the front. You can watch the replay on YouTube here. Next race is Richmond in two weeks.
